What is the Best Way to Learn American English?
Of course the best way to learn any language is to immerse yourself in the language. Even if you do not live in an English-speaking country, you can do this by taking an online course in English. To study American English, you do have to make sure that the site you choose does specific that the courses are in this form of the English language because there is a difference between American and British English. This means that native speakers who have learned the British version of spelling and different vocabulary words can also benefit from taking such a course.
The reason that a site would specify that the course is in US English is because of the differences in spelling and pronunciation of words. While Canada will accept both spellings because of its proximity to the US and its close ties with the UK, it is important to know the difference between the two. The conversation is realistic so you not only learn how to pronounce the words and check your rate of fluency, but you also learn the correct grammar and punctuation to use because the script is available on the screen.
